The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Stenographer Grade 'C' & 'D' skill test is widely regarded as one of the most competitive shorthand examinations in the country. Clearing this exam requires not just high-speed writing capabilities, but extreme accuracy during computer transcription.
Month 1: Focus on Accuracy and Outlines
In the first 30 days, do not stress about writing at 100 WPM. Focus entirely on outline accuracy. Ensure that your circles, loops, and vowel indicators are written clearly. A poorly written outline will cause hesitation during transcription, which is the primary cause of omissions.
- Practice 2 hours of shorthand theory revisions daily.
- Transcribe at least 1 editorial passage at a comfortable speed of 70 WPM.
- Focus on grammalogues and initial shorthand contractions.
Month 2: Backspace Limitations and Mock Mode
Once your outlines are solid, transition into the SSC mock test environment. One critical factor that many aspirants fail to prepare for is the constraint on backspaces and scrolling in exam centers.
Our academy steno lab replicates this strict environment by allowing you to disable backspaces during transcription training. Practice transcribing without correcting typos repeatedly—this trains your brain to type cleanly on the first key stroke.
Month 3: Progressive Speed Runs
During the final 30 days, push your speed boundaries. If your target exam is Grade D (80 WPM), train at 90-100 WPM. If you are targetting Grade C (100 WPM), train at 110-120 WPM. This makes the actual exam feel significantly slower and easier to capture.
